London Property on a Budget

If you’re looking to find a flat to rent London, then there are some things that you have to accept if you’re working on a budget. The first is that London is the capital of England, the largest city in England, and everyone who’s working wants to work in London. Finding a cheap flat to rent in the centre is not hard, as it is in other major cities, it is impossible. Competition is so fierce that prices have shot up and will probably never come down. Even if you do stretch your budget, to the point where you can just about afford to rent a dodgy flat in the centre, you will have to deal with such tremendous living costs that you’ll wonder what brought you to this city in the first place.

Now that the bad news is over, there is good news. Because London is such a vast city, transport has been improved greatly and the underground tubes – whilst perhaps noisy and overcrowded on weekdays – will aid you greatly in your commute to the centre. This means that you can in fact locate a bit further out, and take the train into London and use the tube system. In fact people locate as far away as Birmingham, and commute to London every day – so renting a flat just on the outskirts should not be a problem.

Bearing this compromise in mind, head over to a property auction and take note while you’re there of the sorts of flats that are available for what price and in which area. Property auctions happen fairly frequently in London, so as long as you do your homework you should be able to gain a good idea of the market for flats to rent in London fairly soon, and be well on your way to finding a good place to commute from
